The standard yellow flatcar with bulkheads features plastic trucks. I'll be happy to combine offers for reduced shipping charges wherever possible and practical. The unusual version is painted orange over an orange-molded body and hot-stamped in black just like regular yellow.
I was able to verify this story, and the rare car is a genuine factory-produced item. Unfortunately, the exact reason why it was produced may never be known. Feel free to ask questions.
It was issued as part of the NYC flyer train set which produced over many years starting in originated with a group other oddball cars that could be traced back to former Lionel employee. The rare orange version was first discovered about 20 years ago, and to date, only 10 are known exist. It is in excellent-like new condition, with the wheels showing light use.
As always, questions are encouraged. Note that the yellow body is from postwar stake-body mold, whereas orange car 6424 tool.
Neither item has an original box, as they don't exist for these items. There is no way to make an orange car by altering a yellow one. The orange flatcar with trailer has die-cast metal sprung trucks. Its in like new condition, with just a few light marks from handling.
Theres no way to fake the orange car from a yellow one.
